Topic: The Transformative Power of God’s Word 2
Message:
Psalm 19:7b (NIV, GNB, Contemporary English Version, AMP)
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. *The commands of the LORD are trustworthy, giving wisdom to those who lack it. *His teachings last forever, and they give wisdom to ordinary people. *The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Most times when the word ‘simple’ is used in the Bible, it does not refer to someone who is nice, humble and moderate. It actually refers to someone who is foolish and can be readily deceived. It refers to someone who lacks knowledge and the right skills and attitude. For example, Proverbs 22:3 (NIV) says: “a prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.” Proverbs 9:13 (NKJV) reveals that “a foolish woman is clamorous; she is simple, and knows nothing.”
But thank God that one major purpose that His Word achieves in our lives is that it drives ignorance and foolishness from us. It stirs up God’s wisdom in us and equips us to be prudent and wise in all our affairs in life. The continual entrance of God’s word into our hearts practically activates the sound mind that God has given us in Christ.
Psalm 119:130 (AMP) declares: “The entrance and unfolding ofYour words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple.” Psalm 119:99 (GNB) says, “I understand more than all my teachers, because I meditate on your instructions.” Quickening and transformation are taking place in your mind as you meditate on God’s Word. Do not stop filling yourself with God’s Word and do not stop applying it to your life also. People who knew you as someone who was foolish and who could be easily deceived will marvel at the display of God’s sound wisdom and excellence through your life.
Prayer Focus:
Heavenly Father, I thank you that as I continually fill myself with Your Word, You are stirring up both Your wisdom and the sound mind that You have given me in Christ.
